🪔 Celebrating Our True Champions: The Gurus of Sport 🪔 “Happiness Through Service” – Lions Club of Panvel Sargam 🟡 Lions Global Cause Covered: Youth Engagement & Community Empowerment 🏆 Name of the Activity: Gurupoornima Felicitation of Sports Coaches 📅 Date, Time & Venue: Friday, 11th July 2025 4:00 PM onward CIDCO Community Centre, Sector 18, New Panvel Organized in association with Navi Mumbai Sports & Social Development Board 📝 About the Event & Its Importance: Gurupoornima is a sacred day to honor and express gratitude to those who selflessly guide others on their path. This year, Lions Club of Panvel Sargam extended this ancient tradition to celebrate the unsung heroes of the sports world — our local coaches and trainers. These Gurus not only shape athletic talent but also instill discipline, determination, and life values in young students. By recognizing these individuals, we aimed to inspire the community to appreciate the influence of mentors and promote the spirit of sportsmanship among youth. 🤝 What We Did: At this heartfelt ceremony, we felicitated six highly respected sports coaches from various disciplines: 🏏 Appa Pawaskar – Cricket 🏸 Milind Gharat – Badminton 🥋 Prajakta Ankolekar – Taekwondo ⚽ Akshay Sashte – Football 🥊 Mandar Panvelkar – Karate & Boxing 🏓 Sanjay Kadu – Table Tennis Each coach was honored with a traditional shawl, appreciation memento, and heartfelt gratitude in front of a warm and respectful audience. The program was graced by Past District Governor Lion Mukesh Taneja as our esteemed Chief Guest, whose presence added dignity and warmth to the occasion. 🎁 What We Donated / Offered: Felicitation of each coaches with shawl, trophy, flower bouquet, and framed citation. Hospitality arrangements for all attendees 💰 Cost of Project / Donations: ₹18,000 (Funded through club member contributions and internal resources) 🦁 Lions Involved in the Activity: Ln. Sushma Panhale ⏳ Total Hours Spent: Planning Hours: 25 On-Ground Execution: 5 Total Lion Hours Spent: 25 + 4*12 = 25 + 48 = 73 Hours 🌟 Outcome: The event left all the honored coaches deeply touched, with several expressing how it was the first time their efforts were publicly recognized with such grace and emotion. It reinforced the Lions message — that real service lies not only in donation but in dignity and respect. Our club’s unique approach to recognizing mentors beyond academics brought praise from community members and guests, further strengthening Lions visibility and goodwill in the region. 🙏 A Note of Gratitude: We thank all the members who supported, attended, and contributed to this initiative.
