Successful leaders spend a good portion of their days, months and years shouldering crises, winning almost impossible deals, leading people to achieve unprecedented results and pulling off miracles when the chips are down. All this comes from a place deep within, where there is an endless reservoir of perseverance and will to succeed that is what our exceptional figure of District Governor 2021-22 Lion L.J. Tawari. Born in a highly respected family, Lion Tawari is a devout and religious person. An alumnus of BITS Pilani, he is a Mechanical Engineer by profession.  After his stint as a Senior Scientific Officer at BARC, he set up his own Consultancy Service Business and owns a Process Equipment Manufacturing Unit in the areas of Power, Chemical, Cement and Petro Chemicals.

The dawn of 1989 marked the humble entry of Lion L.J. Tawari into Lions Club of New Bombay Vashi and served as President in the year 1998-99. He received Excellent President Award and during his tenure Lions Club of Vashi was adjudged as Top Ten Club of the District. Since then, his track record in this journey of service has been one of consistent growth. His commitment and leadership qualities contributed to his meteoric rise in Lionism. An action-oriented Lion with a proven track record of 33 Lionistic years, Lion Tawari, made a mark as a devoted and dedicated Lion in every position he held. 

As District Governor 2021-22, our District scaled new heights under his leadership with all-round progress. 

-              Our District was number one in our Multiple 3231 and amongst Top 10 District of ISAME. 

-              For the first time in our district 100% activities reporting on MyLion, 100% WMMR throughout the year, 

-              For the first time 12 issues of our District's E – Bulletin AVLOKAN published, 

-              Our District achieved number one position on all India level in Membership growth and 6th rank in ISAME with 1500+ new members and extension of 23 New Clubs,

-              All-time record Service Activities worth whooping USD $ 7,557,894 with 7,408 Service Project, 1,053,324 people served with 143,000 Volunteers Hours

-              An all-time record of 115 MJF/ PMJF fully paid /pledged with 10 model Clubs, 118% target achieved set by Lions International for Campaign 100,

-              In leadership development program: for the first time 9 FDI Graduates, 3 ALLI Graduates, 11 RLLI Graduates and 12 ELLI Graduate's, 3 DLLI of International Standard Faculties, approx. 2000 Lions could complete  Leadership courses on LLC by very innovative Mission LLC Program,  

-              For the first time 36 villages adapted, 10 check dams with 10 Borewell were constructed for water conservation, 

-              75 days continuous services by under Amrut Mahotsav Program with almost 90 Clubs participation,

-              Celebration of Power of Service as midterm service week  with weekly dedicated activities for continuous 8 weeks, 

-              Flood relief work for Mahad and surrounding villages worth 86+ lakhs in a short span of time,

-              LCIF Grant more than 40 Lakhs received, USD $ 10,000 Emergency Grant for people affected by land slide in Chembur and Bhandup area. 

-              First time Prosthetic Arm Project on a greater scale by our District and stood first in Multiple MD 3231. 

-              75+ Lakhs fund raised by Clubs through FRD Scheme, Permanent Projects worth 42 Crores initiated or completed. This was POWER OF SERVICE. All the Lions of our District worked with dedication so that our District remain Top in our Multiple 3231  and within Top 10 in ISAME. His committed Micro Members worked as Team and left no stone unturned to achieve the resounding success.  In all, it was a historical and luckiest year for our District.  Ambassador of Goodwill Award to our respected PDG Lion Anilji Jadghav was the icing on the cake. He has received:

-              all-round Membership Growth Award from LCI in reorganization to his contribution to membership growth. 

-              He is RLLI and ALLI Graduate from Lions Clubs International Institutes. 

-              He received FOUR  International President's Medallion, Four Leadership  Medals, one GAT Leadership Medal and Fifteen International President's Appreciation Certificates,  one Leadership Development Certificate of Merit which is very unique, 

-              honoured by Lions  International President Douglas Alexander as 2021-22 Star District Leader,

-              Top District Leader  Golden Medal for making 10 new model Clubs.

                He has received Multiple Awards for the Best District Governor, Best District Cabinet Secretary, Best GST District Coordinator and Best District Chairperson. He has also received District Awards for the  Best GST District Coordinator and Rotating Trophy for the Best District Chairperson. He has been appreciated for his S. F. Activities and CEP Program.

                 His spouse and mainstay in life, Lion Lata is soft spoken and devoted home maker. She is also an active member of the Club. The couple are blessed with son Santosh, a Chemical Engineer, married to daughter-in-law Priti. Daughter Amita is married to Dr. Ashish Birla and are proud grandparents to 4 grandchildren.

•             He has balanced his business, social and family life exceedingly well and has the support of the family for his Lionistic pursuits.
